Hello, Commanders! The whole new version of The Genius Spec-Ops, Submarine Hunt Set Off is coming! We're thrilled to have the newest addition to our Arsenal: the Fission Gun. To celebrate, Rumi has teamed up with the talented artist @RZ to provide a creative breakdown of our new weapons: the Devouring Fission Gun, the Radiance Fission Gun, and the Underworld Gaze. Let's dive in!
Q1: Where did the inspiration come from when you initially designed the Fission Gun? What were your main sources of inspiration?
RZ (Artist): The design idea for the Fission Gun comes from the triple-barrel drilling, with its barrels arranged in a triangular pattern, one on top and two below. This design places the sight on the top barrel. When you aim and pull the trigger, it fires various calibers of shotgun shells, including 2¾-inch, 3-inch, or 3½-inch 12-gauge shotgun shells. Now the ammo is instantly discharged, inflicting huge damage.

Q2: What's so special about this new weapon's design?
RZ (Artist): Firstly, for appearance, the number of barrels is a special part. Compared to common rifles, the three barrels have extremely high visual impact.


The barrage it fires is also interesting. The Fission Gun typically holds around 20 bullets, and during the Downburst, each bullet can split into three. With your precise control, it can hit all enemies with just one shot. It is absolutely a powerful melee weapon at the start of battles.

Q3: What were the main challenges during its creation? How were they resolved?
RZ (Artist): The main challenge we once had was how to differentiate its barrage from that of the HMG. We needed to make it visibly distinct while still keeping this difference within the framework of the game's universal barrage design.


Our solution was to enhance the solid slug visibility, and make it different from the HMG, which feels like a pure energy bomb. For color, we decided to make slight adjustments to the proportions of different colors based on the standard color scheme, keeping an overall look within the prescribed color range but with slight changes.

Q4: Which of the design process are you most satisfied with?
RZ (Artist): It must be the defining feature of how the Fission Gun provides a team damage bonus and enhances the chance to trigger WOUND Debuff for the team. When it is deployed as a support weapon, it has the chance to at a certain time. This allows everyone to have a direct experience of the weapon's large-scale penetration effect and damage bonus, assisting Commanders to sweep obstacles and dominate the battlefield!
